Ein Projekt zum Black Future Month

Die Gruppenausstellung PULP von Moh Kanim, Anys Reimann, Theresa Weber und Latefa Wiersch artikuliert eine vierstimmige transkulturelle Verkörperung, deren hauchdünne Membran den Blick von außen in die Materie erlaubt.

Es werden Themen wie Transkulturalität im Sinne von hybriden Körpern und deren Transformationen, Erweiterungen, und Markierungen verhandelt. Hier entsteht ein Raum der Selbstzuschreibung. Die körperliche Repräsentation als gegenüberstellende Installation zeigt entblößte Häute, prothetische Körperzeichen, abstrahiert und durchpulst von ihrem/seinem Klang.

Die KünstlerInnen sprechen in Ihren Arbeiten von Annäherung, Resillienz und Humor, und verweigern durch Störung und Ironie bekannte Codes der Exotisierung, des Fetischs und der Objektivierung. Ihre Materialitäten vernetzen sich in Behauptungen, Erfahrungen und deren Sound zu einem physischen Ort.

Ein vielstimmiger Klangkörper begleitet die Betrachter*innen durch die Ausstellung PULP und kann in diesem Rahmen als CD-Edition in 20er Auflage mit individuell gestaltetem Art-Work der Künstler*innen erworben werden.

Moh Kanim (*1980 in Doha/Katar, lebt und arbeitet in Bielefeld) ist vielseitig tätig. Er ist Künstler, Musik Produzent, Sänger, Rapper, Moderator, Autor, Model und Video Visual Artist. Musikalisch bedient er sich hauptsächlich an den Genres Hiphop und Neu-Soul. Für Pulp steuert eigens komponierte Sounds bei, die das Thema Körperlichkeit aufgreifen.

Anys Reimann (*1965, lebt und arbeitet in Düsseldorf). Anys' Arbeiten zeugen von einem individuellem Selbstverständnis, Nähe und von dem Eindruck der Interaktion mit dem 'Anderen‘. In „ Layers of Meanings“, Überlappungen von Materialitäten, Formen, Inhalten und auch Sinneserfahrungen untersucht sie ein Identitätsverständnis, das Hybridität als grundlegende Form der Konstruktion betrachtet.

Theresa Weber (*1996, lebt und arbeitet in Düsseldorf und London). In ihren Arbeiten verbindet sie ihre Biografie mit aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Diskursen, basierend auf historischen oder mythologischen Geschichtserzählungen. Dabei verhandelt sie Probleme der Identität und die Verkörperung kultureller Zugehörigkeit, die sie über Installation und Bildproduktion sichtbar macht.

Latefa Wiersch (*1982 in Dortmund) lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Ihre Installationen, Performances und Videos verhandeln Fragen rund um den Körper und um Machtverhältnisse von Objekt-Subjekt-Beziehungen vor dem Hintergrund der postkolonialen Gegenwart. Im Besonderen wird die Puppe als unbelebt-belebtes Gegenüber in Szene gesetzt.

A project for Black Future Month

The group exhibition PULP by Moh Kanim, Anys Reimann, Theresa Weber und Latefa Wiersch articulates a four-part transcultural embodiment whose gossamer membrane allows a view from the outside into the subject matter. Topics such as transculturality in the sense of hybrid bodies and their transformations, extensions, and markings are negotiated. Here a space of self-attribution emerges.

The bodily representation as a juxtaposing installation shows exposed skins, prosthetic bodily signs, abstracted and pulsed by their sound.

The artists speak of rapprochement, resillience, and humor in their works, refusing familiar codes of exoticization, fetish, and objectification through disruption and irony. Her materialities interconnect in assertions, installed experiences, and their sound to create a physical site.

A polyphonic body of sound accompanies the viewers through the exhibition PULP and can be purchased in this context as a CD edition of 20 with individually designed art-work by the artists.

Moh Kanim (*1980 in Doha/Qatar, lives and works in Bielefeld), is active in many areas. He is an artist, music producer, singer, rapper, presenter, author, model and video visual artist. Musically he mainly uses the genres hiphop and new-soul. For Pulp contributes specially composed sounds that take up the theme of physicality.

Anys Reimann (*1965, lives and works in Düsseldorf). Anys' works testify to an individual self-understanding, closeness and the impression of interaction with the 'other'. In "Layers of Meanings", overlaps of materialities, forms, contents and also sensory experiences, she explores an understanding of identity that considers hybridity as a fundamental form of construction.

Theresa Weber (*1996, lives and works in Düsseldorf and London). In her work, she combines her biography with current social discourses, based on historical or mythological historical narratives. Latefa Wiersch (*1982 in Dortmund lives and works in Zurich).
