Im Jahr 2020 entsteht ein größerer Zyklus, der auf eine Reise durch Indien und in die indische Stadt Varanasi am Ganges zurückgeht, dort wo die hinduistische Verbrennungssrituale stattfinden und die höchste Betriebsamkeit herrscht, Stille und Lärm ungebremst aufeinandertreffen.

So lebhaft und farbig diese Darstellungen auch sind, es geht um Spiritualität und Transzendierung des Lebens.
Das Vorkommnis entleerter Partien, welche von Schleiern aus Farbe umfasst sind. Das Ausfasern der expressiven Bewegung, und damit auch ein Malen gegen die Routine –es scheint als wäre jeder Berg, jeder Baum, jeder Weg ein Wunderwerk, das sich Evelina Velkaitė mit Farben überhaupt zum ersten Mal aneignet."

Evelina Velkaitė (*1982) lebt und arbeitet in Kaarst. In ihrer Arbeit öffnet innere Räume, die Stille und Harmonie zeigen, aber auch die Frage danach aufwerfen, wer wen beobachtet und wer die beobachtende Person ist.

Ihre Werke befinden sich in bedeutenden Kunstsammlungen wie Kunstmuseum Bochum und der Kunstsammlung des Landes NRW, Alte Reichsabtei Kornelimünster in Aachen.

"The double image

In 2020, a larger cycle is created, which goes back to a journey through India and to the Indian city of Varanasi on the Ganges, where the Hindu burning rituals take place and the highest bustle prevails, silence and noise meet without restraint.

As vivid and colorful as these depictions are, they are about spirituality and transcendence of life.
