The Limiting Factor ist ein interdisziplinäres Projekt zu dem das Duo DOBSTROH sieben weitere Künstler*innen aus der darstellenden und bildenden Kunst eingeladen haben, um mit ihnen zum Thema "Identität" in eine Begegnung zu gehen.
"Zwischen Identitätsthese und Identitätskrise wollen wir am elementaren, komplexen, weitläufigen, subjektiven, zentralen Thema der Identität forschen. So wie Identitäten selbst in der Wechselwirkung zwischen Individuum und Gemeinschaft entstehen, wollen wir uns ihr einerseits mit Innenschau und daraus resultierenden eigenen Werken und Performances nähern und andererseits unseren Horizont um die Perspektive anderer Künstler*innen erweitern. Wir versuchen, uns im Spiegel der Anderen selbst zu reflektieren und uns gegenseitig Auskunft zu geben über kollektive Fiktionen. Wir wollen einen Blick auf die Wahrscheinlichkeitswolken der (inter)personellen Entwicklung werfen und Möglichkeitsfelder ausloten."

The Limiting Factor is an interdisciplinary project for which the duo DOBSTROH have invited seven other artists from the performing and visual arts to enter into an encounter with them on the theme of "identity".
"Between identity thesis and identity crisis, we want to research the elementary, complex, expansive, subjective, central theme of identity. Just as identities themselves arise in the interaction between the individual and the community, we want to approach it on the one hand with introspection and our own resulting works and performances, and on the other hand expand our horizons to include the perspective of other artists. We try to reflect ourselves in the mirror of others and to give each other information about collective fictions. We want to take a look at the probability clouds of (inter)personal development and sound out fields of possibility."

studierte von 2009-2013 Theater und Filmregie an der Athanor Akademie. Seit der Geburt ihrer Tochter 2014 arbeitet sie als freischaffende Regisseurin an verschiedenen Spielstätten im Raum NRW und Bayern und initiierte eigene Produktionen. 2017 gründete sie mit der Schauspielerin Zoë Dobrileit das Theaterduo DOBSTROH. Sie wurden für ihre Arbeit „Aufzeichnungen eines Wahnsinnigen“ nach Motiven von Nikolaj Gogol und Heinz Strunk mit dem Mono-BeneAward in Kärnten ausgezeichnet.
Für THE LIMITING FACTOR begegnet sie einerseits geerbten Traumata in DAS ENDET MIT MIR mit der Schauspielerin Sarah Schuchardt und wird zusätzlich in einer performativen Powerpoint-Präsentation sich ihren Eltern vorstellen, um ihrer „mixed identity“ nachzuspüren.

studied theatre and film directing at the Athanor Academy from 2009-2013. Since the birth of her daughter in 2014, she has worked as a freelance director at various venues in the NRW and Bavaria area and initiated her own productions. In 2017, she founded the theatre duo DOBSTROH with the actress Zoë Dobrileit. They were awarded the Mono-BeneAward in Carinthia for their work "Aufzeichnungen eines Wahnsinnigen" ("Notes of a Madman") based on motifs by Nikolaj Gogol and Heinz Strunk.
For THE LIMITING FACTOR, she will on the one hand confront inherited traumas in DAS ENDET MIT MIR with the actress Sarah Schuchardt and will additionally introduce herself to her parents in a performative PowerPoint presentation in order to trace her "mixed identity".

(*1990, @vatermilch) ist Schauspielerin und gründete 2017 gemeinsam mit Marika Rockstroh das Theaterduo DOBSTROH. Gemeinsam wollen die beiden in ihrer Arbeit bestehende Strukturen nicht nur hinterfragen, sondern ihre individuelle Beschränktheit transzendieren, indem sie einen Rahmen für Perspektivaustausch schaffen und damit nachhaltige Entwicklung kultivieren. Zoë experimentiert außerdem mit verschiedenen Formen bildender Kunst. Für ihre Cyanotypien setzte sie sich mit den Themen Außenwahrnehmung und Selbstbild auseinander und erarbeitete mit Majid Bakhtiari eine Performance über Anziehung und Erniedrigung.

Zoë Dobrileit (*1990, @vatermilch) is an actress and founded the theatre duo DOBSTROH together with Marika Rockstroh in 2017. Together, the two not only want to question existing structures in their work, but also transcend their individual limitations by creating a framework for exchanging perspectives and thus cultivating sustainable development. Zoë also experiments with different forms of visual art. For her cyanotypes, she explored the themes of external perception and self-image and worked with Majid Bakhtiari on a performance about attraction and humiliation.

Für THE LIMITING FACTOR setzte er sich mit verschiedenen Aspekten seiner eigenen (beruflichen) Identität auseinander und erarbeitete mit Zoë Dobrileit eine Performance, die Themen wie Anziehung und Erniedrigung, Abgrenzung und Verschmelzung thematisiert.

(@majidbakhtiari) is an actor who graduated from the Arturo Schauspielschule in Cologne in 2007. He works mainly in film and as an acting teacher. For THE LIMITING FACTOR, he dealt with various aspects of his own (professional) identity and worked with Zoë Dobrileit to create a performance that addresses themes such as attraction and humiliation, demarcation and fusion.

Sie studiert Bildende Kunst bei Josephine Pryde an der UdK Berlin und ist staatlich geprüfte Fotodesignerin (Lette-Verein Berlin). Dort wurde sie 2017 mit dem „Lette Design Award“ ausgezeichnet. Louisa zeigt bei THE LIMITING FACTOR großformatige Portraits auf Fahnenstoff, die das Publikum einladen, die eigene Perspektive auf Gender und Identität und den eigenen Einfluss auf die Umgebung zu hinterfragen.

(@louisa.boeszoermeny) is a photo and film artist and a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation since 2020. She studies fine arts with Josephine Pryde at the UdK Berlin and is a state-certified photo designer (Lette-Verein Berlin). There she was awarded the "Lette Design Award" in 2017. At THE LIMITING FACTOR, Louisa shows large-scale portraits on banner fabric that invite the audience to question their own perspective on gender and identity and their own influence on the environment.

Seit 2017 arbeitet er als Bühnenbildner (TAS, Neuss) und Filmemacher (Musikvideos für Slowmind und DayLisa) und entwickelt als Videokünstler digitale Räume, kreiert aufwendige 3D Animationen (u.a. Planetarium Hamburg) für Bühne (Das Double, 2019 WERFT77) Film, Ausstellungen und andere Künstler*innen.
Bei THE LIMITING FACTOR entwickelt er mit dem Tänzer und Choreographen Amadeus Pawlica und der Kostümkünstlerin Frederike Marsha Coors ein gemeinsames Kunstwerk das sich über die gesamte Ausstellungszeit entfaltet. "PERFORMING PERSONALITY"

(@free.co_co) arbeitet seit 2018 als freiberufliche Kostümbildnerin. Regelmäßig fertigt sie am Schauspiel Duisburg „Spieltrieb“ Kostüm- sowie Bühnenbilder an. Seit 2019 arbeitet sie in ihrem Essener Atelier vorwiegend an Kostümen, sowie Neuanfertigungen und Aufwertungen diverser Vintage-Kleidung.
Für THE LIMITING FACTOR arbeitet sie zusammen mit Amadeus Pawlica und René Buttermann an einem Gesamtkunstwerk aus Video/ 3D-Reality und Performance, zu dem sie nicht nur das Kostümbild, sondern auch eine eigene Rauminstallation kreieren wird.

(@free.co_co ) has been working as a freelance costume designer since 2018. She regularly creates costume and stage designs for Schauspiel Duisburg's "Spieltrieb". Since 2019 she has been working in her Essen studio mainly on costumes, as well as remakes and upgrades of various vintage clothing.
For THE LIMITING FACTOR she is working together with Amadeus Pawlica and René Buttermann on a total artwork of video/ 3D reality and performance, for which she will not only create the costume design but also her own spatial installation.

Zur Zeit spielt sie am Schauspielhaus Bochum als festes Ensemblemitglied. 2020 war sie die Nachwuchsschauspielerin des Jahres der Theater Heute, 2021 erhielt sie den Kunstpreis Berlin in Darstellender Kunst. Von Publikum wie Kritiker*innen wird sie für ihr intensives und starkes Spiel gelobt. Für THE LIMITING FACTOR wollte sie unabhängig von ihrer Identität als Schauspielerin arbeiten und setzte sich stattdessen sehr persönlich mit ihrer Vaterbeziehung auseinander. Dazu führte sie verschiedene Interviews an der Elfenbeinküste.

(#GinaHaller) is a theatre and film actress. She currently plays at the Schauspielhaus Bochum as a permanent ensemble member. In 2020 she was Theater Heute's Young Actress of the Year, and in 2021 she received the Berlin Art Prize in Performing Arts. She is praised by audiences and critics alike for her intense and strong acting. For THE LIMITING FACTOR she wanted to work independently of her identity as an actress and instead took a very personal look at her father relationship. To do this, she conducted several interviews in Côte d'Ivoire.

Welche Prägungen aus der eigenen Mutterbeziehung bestimmen, lenken und formen unser heutiges Ich und wie geben wir diese bewussten oder unbewussten Muster weiter? Sind wir nur die Summe der Traumata unserer Mütter, Großmütter und Ur-Ur-Urgroßmütter oder hat unsere eigene Linie schon begonnen?

For THE LIMITING FACTOR, Sarah Schuchardt and Marika Rockstroh encounter each other as daughters, mothers and above all women in the performative installation DAS ENDET MIT MIR. What imprints from one's own mother relationship determine, guide and shape our present-day selves and how do we pass on these conscious or unconscious patterns? Are we just the sum of the traumas of our mothers, grandmothers and great-great-great-grandmothers or has our own lineage already begun?

studierte Tanz an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mannheim sowie an der Royal Ballet School in London. Er war als vielversprechender Nachwuchschoreograph Stipendiat der Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. Engagements führten ihn in den Jahren 2009 - 2016 an die Staatsoper Bydgoszcz, das Theater Lüneburg sowie an das Theater Osnabrück. Im Jahr 2016 gründete er mit Katerina Vlasova das Duo Vlasova/Pawlica.
Für THE LIMITING FACTOR arbeitet er mit den Künstler*innen Frederike Marsha Coors und René Butterman an einem kollaborativen Kunstwerk, das aus Video / 3D-Reality, Rauminstallation und zuletzt einer Live-Performance von Amadeus besteht.

Amadeus Pawlica studied dance at the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts and at the Royal Ballet School in London. He was a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation as a promising young choreographer. Between 2009 and 2016, he was engaged by the Bydgoszcz State Opera, the Lüneburg Theatre and the Osnabrück Theatre. In 2016 he founded the duo Vlasova/Pawlica with Katerina Vlasova.
For THE LIMITING FACTOR he is working with the artists Frederike Marsha Coors and René Butterman on a collaborative artwork consisting of video / 3D reality, spatial installation and most recently a live performance by Amadeus.
